new to newer merc

Hi,
I have just aquired a 2004 50elptefi merc from a friend for doing some work on an airplane for him. I am kinda confused, don't see any way (Obvious) to connect shift/ throttle control to engine. All I can find is the con for fuel line. What gives, is this all electronic or what?? I have used, fixed, ect. old Mercs and Johnyrudes forever (I'm 65), but this is VERY new to me.

Thanks. I already have service manual for this 50, and it has all those diagrams. But I either don't know how to look up, or I'm missing something. Do I need to look up remote control, or what? I have not found how to connect throttle/shift control. I hate to keep repeting myself, but you folk on this forum have been a lot of help on other projects. There is a 10 pin plug on the front of engine that looks as if it is very important. This is so new in all ways. Currently running a '59 Johnson with Evenrude lower on a 16' Aluminum Starcraft.
