Hello all,
New to this forum guy here. First post, but have had alot of questions answered by reading a boatload of posts so far! Things I have learned by reading first.
Provide year, model and part numbers.
Never just say "It has a pretty good spark".
Sooner or later the words carb rebuild will be heard.
Pics are worth a thousand words.
Theres more, but based on the frequency and quality of reponses to posts I will thank in advance Racerone, for his willingness to help us, including me I am hoping!
My yardsale find of a nice 1965 9.5 Sportwin Mod 9522C is turning out to be a fun challenge. Idle not so good, but at WOT runs great... for a minute. Then it seems like it is starving for fuel, or one cylinder is cutting out. Yes, the tank vent is open. Coils look great, new plugs and points are gapped .020, so for now I rule out ignition. Back to fuel supply. Can the fuel pump be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled without needing a rebuild kit? Does the leaf plate need inspection/maint? Lastly (for now) on the front panel is a control for Lean (Low speed adj). I adjusted every which way with no change. Then I popped the cowl, and observed there is nowfrickin linkage connecting it to the needle valve! See pic. I assume I can make adjustments by hand?
Again, thanks in advance for helping this new guy!
