New stator arrived for 50 Merc Thunderbolt

A quick question. The new stator that I purchased was a CDI. It has two yellow wires that go to the rectifier. They are both the same but the original wires differ. Does it matter which goes where on the rectifier? Thanks, Mike

No, but.... Sometimes I've had to switch wires to get the tach to work. Honestly! Ran into that twice.

Got out and took the boat for a spin today. Runs full throttle now and am glad to have the major problem taken care of. It bogs down quite a bit when trying to accelerate but when it recovers, it goes. Thanks for all the help. Regards, Fuddyduddy

Turn the slow needles out 1/4 turn counterclockwise and see it it helps with the hole shot.

Thanks for that. I will give it a try. I am going to drag it out fishing for the first time since it was purchased a year ago. It starts nice and runs but I am not a troller. I like to drift. I will have plenty of lake time to tweak the small stuff then. I will probably do the needle adjustment before we leave.-Mike
