I got a new prop today and of course its painted black.i want it to match
my 270 outdrive which is a whitish color.can i spray paint my prop???i dont want to lose any performance characteristics or handling capabilities by painting??thanks for any advice!!!

There are a couple of things that I've heard. First is that nonskid paint might give you more "grip" on the water and a better hole shot but the sand won't stay on very long. Second is that the prop color should match the color of your most effective lure if you want to catch bigger fish! But that's just what I've heard - don't really know for sure!!!!!!!!

Sorry bout that - just couldn't help myself!

i think that maybe i should leave it black then.not sure what to do at this point in time.i dont want to damage anything or make it ineffective

I've been painting mine with antifouling paint (white) same as I use on the lower unit.
It sticks at the hub and the roots of the blades, however, it gets washed off at the tips.

Go and buy the correct paint (aerosol) from a marine store.
