New Powerhead

Greetings,
I'm new to this forum and wish to say hello to all Johnson Outboard enthusiasts.
Could anyone please tell me where I can buy a new power-head for my new to me 1996 8 hp Johnson?

A new powerhead will be expensive !---------And for most shops it is not cost efective to rebuild an 8 HP motor.--------What is your location and what is wrong with the motor.----E-BAY might be a scource , but it is a buyer beware market.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is excessive smoke. Im in lower Delaware'
and do not trust buying used power heads.

For a two stroke and 'excessive smoke', it is more likely a question of oil-mix, type of oil used and/or carb adjustment.
Run the engine on max 2% oil mix, check that temperature (thermostat) is working.
Do a de-carb of the engine using Sea Foam or Engine tuner.
If engine runs and idle smooth, nothing is wrong with the power head.
Done a compression test?

Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll go out and buy a compression gauge.
Here's one for you:
If you google the cas#s of the ingredients in Seafoam, you will see that it contains
naphtha, which is VMP Naphtha, found in paint stores, and isppropyl alcohol, which
is sold as Iso-Heat in places like WalMart.
