New, Need help please.

My cousin bought a 12ft. Aluminum boat with a older 6hp, Evinrude motor on it.Now we would like to find out what year,model, fuel mixture it takes and what ever else he should know about it. I asked him to give me the serial number on it and it is 61020-J06212. I've looked for about a good hour and can't find anything. Can someone please help my out? Thanks, Justin
 
The first part of the number should be the model number. 61020 does not check out but 6102 is a 1971 6hp.

Check and I think you will find that it may be 6102 and a "G" or an "E" suffix letter not "0"

If it is a 1971 model then the fuel mix is 50:1.

Plugs should be J6C gapped at 0.030"

Check the cooling

Check/change the gear case oil ( High viscosity outboard gear oil)

Thanks, I'll go and take a look at it myself to make sure he didn't leave anything out of the serial #. I appreciate the help, Justin
 
Ok, I have been sick for a few days but i went up today and got the number. You were right, It's 6102GJ06212. Thanks again ffor the help, Justin.
