new merc shift cable

I'm installing a new lower shift cable in my 1995 merc 4.3 v6 w/1989 alpha 1 o/d and was wondering if there has been any problems with the new shift cable merc has come out with,( #865436a02) they are teflon coated armored black inner wire.

Has anyone tried GLM or MALLORY lower shift cables?

Use sierra or order oem. GLM "Good Luck Marine" is garbage.

if you look at the price difference between oem and glm and others it's a few bucks.

With cables i always recommend oem. It's really one of the few things i say buy oem.

No question here, OEM for cables. Ya costly, but it's one of those pay now or pay more later to redo. Have had too many after market failures to chance it. Never had an issue with the Mercs.
