New ignition switch for 1976 Johnson motor

I have a 70hp Johnson motor #70EL76D. I have a power pilot console. I’m attempting to put a new ignition switch in. The letters on the old switch are BMSAM. The new switch I have has BMCIS. The old one has a toggle switch for the choke. The new one is a push to choke. Can anyone help me with this wiring?? Please!!

Continue with toggle choke? Same as old ign sw except old "I" terminal is now "A". Do not use "C" terminal.

Want to use push to choke instead of toggle? Disconnect choke wire from toggle switch and connect it to "C" terminal on new switch.

Thank you very much. I kinda thought that’s how it was but wanted to make sure before I changed it. I sure appreciate your help

I started out just wanted to hook up an emergency kill switch. When I got the console apart I realized the old ignition switch was pretty corroded. I can hook the red wire on the kill switch to the magneto post & ground the black wire & it should work. Right??

The emergency kill switch I bought has 2 wires on it. I wired 1 to one side of the magneto on the ignition switch & the other side to the ground magneto side of the switch. My problem is that even with the lanyard pulled the motor still turns over

I am adding an additional question to this thread - I have a 70hp Johnson motor 70673D with a power pilot remote. I think I have to put a new ignition switch in as it appears to fail to make contact sometimes to start the engine. The handle is also a bit loose and floppy so I assume there are a bunch of parts (bushings and such) that are worn. Is there a manual on how to disassemble the power pilot controller because I am certain it needs a total overhaul (including the ignition switch). Kind of a daunting task for a DIY guy that is new to boats! Advice would be appreciated.

I am in Alberta, Canada! I have thought of trying to upgrade the controller from the older Power Pilot, but I have no idea where to start in finding a suitable replacement. I know nothing about "control boxes with the big red plug". Can you elaborate? (Make, model, where you can get it (website)? Alternatively, I have no problem in making a project out of taking it apart my Power Pilot and replacing the ignition and additional parts that are worn (if they are available) considering it's almost 50 years old!! I just need directions for doing so.

As for the loose handle... I see that there is a main screw through the handle so I will just try tightening that up and see if it does the trick! But there is also a lot of play in the handle so other than being loose, I suspect things are worn out inside.
