Gentlemen Thanks for your time... Let me start by saying I'm a automotive wizzz - very well seasoned in engines and transmission and making them hook and go but i know nothing in the Marine field.
I'm hoping I've came to the right place - I spent the morning educating myself the best i could with google and youtube but I'm still left with question's....
This past weekend I purchased a 1990 Mon Ark with a NSF30A.
The motor is mounted but everything else needs to be mounted or connected...
Majority of my questions revolve around ( wiring ) and such....
The main controller is just laying in the boat with what appears to be throttle and shift cable.
The main harness is hooked up ( Someone at some point cut it and rewired with typical crimp connectors - in the area it exits the motor ) Seems like a great place for corrosion to build up - more then sure ill have to readdress that at some point...
Right now I'm thinking I need help with the key switch and two large wires that are not color coded that come off the motor....
What I know so far - The previous owner said the motor had good compression - I haven't been able to test - I cant use the pull start on the motor - it seem to be disabled for safety and I'm not sure how to fix this unless i address all wiring....
The previous owner said because the motor is a short shaft - I need to get some kind of jack plate that lowers the engine down - Not sure how to masseuse for that or what I'm looking for or what i need to do?
I got four wires ( Again I guess they have something to do with the ignition switch ) - Green / white / black / pink - Does anyone happen to know what these wires go to and how?
The bigger wires going to the motor - I'm guess is hot / ground for the engine/starter - After tracing them out do I need to go to a fuse block or direct to battery or ( Is there a fuse already in place )?
Any information a person could give me with be greatly apricated.
What's the best oil for this engine?
I will post some pictures and if anyone sees anything i need to address to let me know...
Like i said I've done some research and figure out a few things on my own - I ordered the Fallowing parts
Also ordered a steering shaft rod to connect the hook plate and the steering cable together'
Also ordered Engine Muffs for starting the engine out of water...
Ill post some pics shortly.... Also currently the boat is not with me - it will be this weekend before i get to work on her again ( She is currently being stored at my brothers about 130 miles away ) but I will bring her home this weekend.
