New guy topside oil change

I am new here and tried the search, coming up empty. I want to change my oil in the slip, and want to try a topside (dipstick) approach. Anyone else do this?

Morning, my motor is a 6 hp Tohatsu outboard. Need to change the oil in the slip. Thanks for the reply.
