"we have installed an old 130hp chrysler mitsubishi diesel [ 6DS70 -5430 cc ]in a 40 ft ferro cement motorsailer. The gear has no info on it but after trying several different props we still can't get over 1000rpm but the engine should max at 3200. The engine worked well in a previous boat but there was a v-drive with a 2.5-1 reduction as well. Do we need a new gear, if so what ratio?"
