I am a new boat ower...just got a 2000 SeaRay with a 5.0L EFI Alpha 1.....We were on the lake yesterday and doing a combination of tubing and swimming.....we would tube for a while and then stop to swim....we have done the same thing about 5 other times with no problem....I first noticed someting was wrond when we started to tube the 4th time and the eng. seamed to miss a few times, i shut it off restatred and gunned it and all was good....we stopped to sime again and when we went to start the boat it would trun over but not fully start....I am really good about running the blower often i have to say that...we sat there for a while letting it cool down and still nothing...we ended the day bing towed back to the dock....have i just vapor locked me boat? Please help....

....have i just vapor locked me boat?
It has been very common this hot summer. It won't hurt to give it the basic tuneup including fuel filter. Idle 5 mins. after a run before shutdown and prop open the engine cover while it is off. I have even poured a bucket of lake water on the fuel components. Where the fresh air duct is attached there should be another duct hole plugged off. Remove the plug and attach a section of air duct and hang it in front of the engine by the flame arrestor...it provides cooler air to the engine for combustion.

guijg...thanks for the advice.....I am just really hoping that all it was, was a vapor lock issue (in you opinion is that what I sounds like?)....I am going to try to get it started today after work and hope that it starts right up....If it does I can only assume that I had vapor locked it and I will from now on make sure I run the blower for a few min before shutting it down....

You have an efi motor,

I could be a lot of issues............take the distributor cap off and look inside. If you see any corrosion replace everything...

If it were vapor lock it would restart as soon as it cools down...typically.

SOmething failed, it could be water in the fuel, or many other factors.

If you are not very mechanical and the fact that it is efi you may require a proffesional to look at it with the proper scan tool....

I would say the same as these other members are saying.Check your temp.Check your oil for water.Do your basics. Also, check your choke in the morning when the engine is fully cold.I've seen it many times peoples boats stalling or not starting up after seating for a little while.Because, their choke isn't adjusted correctly. In fact my friend wired his choke wide open on his boat now stating the same as you are having problems. Also, check your fuel safty valve located at your fuel tank hose connection. When, they go out.The gas drains back into the tank. Also, drains the float bowl as well.
