New batteries needed for house

Left switch on and charger stopped working. I had two group 31 in series for house. They were 12 volt 105 amp hour wet cells. They fit my custom box, but, thinking 6 volt might be better way to go. Of course I have to find out what happened to my hearth inverter/charger.

two BCI31's in series??? unless you've gone to 24VDC, I'd suspect they are in parallel.

If you have custom boxes made and space is tight, you will probably be better off staying with the 31's...I'd suggest a good charging followed by a load test before unloading that much money.

Agreed on finding out what stopped working with the inverter...

Many people are having great luck with the 6 volt Deep Cycle batteries, paired in 2's and in series.
You can do 2 or 4 or 6.

Size for size, the 6 volt Deep Cycle batteries will typically offer more Amp Hours, and AH are what we're after for our House Load battery banks.

Mark you are right... Two group31 in parallel. My custom box is homemade with wood. Can craft another. I took home the batteries and on charger now.

Rick,
If I need them I'm thinking the 6 volt wet cells. They seem taller and thinner so might fit 4. I remember you pointer out they are good way to go. Seem cheaper for the hours and lighter to remove for off season.

You can SUCCESSFULLY charge two batteries with one charger if they are wired in series. That makes the dual 6 volt deal a good idea, and those batteries have lots of oomph compared to 12 volt batteries with their skinny cells.
