I had the low oil alarm go off on one of my Alpha one legs yesterday. Checked it and the reservoir was empty. I was almost back at the dock so I cruised in on one motor. I topped it up, ran it for a bit and its running rough. It wouldn't select gear at first, then clunked in and sounded shagged.
I had checked the reservoir a few days prior and it was full. Motor ran at about 3/4 throttle for around 3hrs. The whole leg and transom assembly were replaced new 3 months ago. Can anyone advise the possible problems and if it sounds like it should be a warranty issue. The Mercruiser guy who installed the legs is 300km away. I can get it looked at locally by a mercruiser approved boat yard tomorrow.
I currently have very little knowledge of sterndrives. I'm just looking for advice on the best way to handle this.
Regards, Craig
