Need year and HP information

I have a bad lower unit on a 1976 Evinrude, 55HP, Model 55673E. I need to know what years and HP are interchangeable with my motor. Thanks

Hi looks like i have same problem as you did you ever get to know which gearcase,s are interchangable with a 1976 55hp 55673e could do with finding out myself thank,s

2 cylinder units from 76 to about 1988 will fit -------40 HP / 50 HP / 55 HP / 60 HP, non commercial only----------Commercial motors of this type use the 3 cylinder lower unit because these 2 cylinder units are not very robust.

Hi found a possible doner gearbox all looks the same except for a small square hole at top part of leg directly above prop what is this help please

I believe that hole is for a " sacrificial anode "----very easy to confirm that using the parts pages.---------I believe that post #3 is very clear !
