Need to replace sticky faria temp gauge

I have one sticky temp gauge on my 87 mainship with twin 270 crusaders. The engines run at 160+/- and both gauges do read Ok but one is sticky and needs to be tapped quite a bit which makes me nervous. I'd like to replace it. Its a Faria but I can't find an exact one anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know if I can use any replacement Faria gauge or will I need to replace the sending unit as well? any thoughts on faria versus VDO? I assume if switch to VDO will surely need to do sending units too. Thanks

After some research I'm now realizing that the gauge is a Medallion not faria. I can't find any OEM stock so probably need to change brand. Probably need to replace sensors? Is this fairly easy and where are they located on the 270 crusader? Thanks!

As a general rule, you can swap gauges without having to change sensor units...at least for the US built boats...Most use the same (US) "standard" and are thus interchangeable...

If you are replacing the sensor units, you need to know that that come in two flavors - single station and dual station...this allows the same gauge to be used on dual helm installations.

BTW, even VDO has used the domestic standard for most of their marine products for decades...

Thanks for the accurate advice. The faria water temp gauges are working great and what I feared might be an overheating issue on one engine appears to have been the gauge. Will the oil pressure senders also be compatible with new farias if I upgrade those as well? The flybridge gauges are 1987 originals and i don't have much faith in them. Thanks
