need some input

Well, today I have 2 problems, I have a 1978 Mercury 20hp outboard and I recently replaced the ignition module, now when about running down the lake at about half throttle the motor developes a miss, it sounds as if one cylinder is cutting out, now I can speed up or slow down and the miss goes away, the other problem I have is somehow the lock that holds the motor in the down position has had the two hooks broken that go over a pin, this keeps the motor from rareing up when in reverse and I can't see how to get that hook braket out.
I hope that someone has some ideas on both these subjects.
Many thanks,

!. Bad ignition coil(s).

2. You need to pry the hook up, then lube and "exercise" the linkage by working it a few dozen times.

Jeff,
I think you misunderstood me, I want to get the piece out so I can replace it. I have tapped on it from one side with a punch and hammer in hopes that the shaft would come out the other side but no luck, there must be something holding it in place, set screw, roll pin or something.
