"YA I JUST BECAME A MEMBER ON MARINE ENGINENS.COM , igot a 1990 conquest with a omc cobra motor in it (inboard outbourd) its a 4 cylinder , when i bought the boat my uncle said it runs great u just cant slam on the gas or itll fall on its face well thats what it has always done , someone told me i needed an accelerator pump in the carb , so i replaced the rubber piece on the accelarator pump in the carb and it seemed to help i took the boat out and i was able to hammer the throttle and it took off like it was suppose to , but now itll run fine 4 about a 1/2 mile then start slowly slowin itself down , the motor will be at full throttle at top speed cruisen good then the motor just starts slowin , ill stop shut it off for a sec fire it up and take off good run good for maybe another half mile and again same deal, and before i did the accelorator pump deal it ran at top speed fine i just couldnt slam on the gas i had to ease into it to get it up to speed

i hope i described this problem good enough , and im really hopin SOMEONE mite have an idea wut is wrong , if u do i would really appreciate any wisdom u mite be able to share with me , im 24 years old this is my first boat and i love it i didnt take it out but twice this year because i wasnt sure what was wrong and didnt want to break down or somthing but other than wut ive described it runs great for that first half mile or so

It almost sounds like fuel sta

It almost sounds like fuel starvation caused by a building vacuum in the tank. Your tank will have a vent line so that air can displace the fuel as you use it. If the vent line is plugged or even kinked air can't get into the tank. Check the vent where it comes through the hull or follow the line if you can looking for kinks. A quick way to test this on the water is to crack open the fuel fill cap.

Mine had a similar problem. I had replaced the carb and the fuel pump. It ended up being the ball check valve (one way valve) in a brass fitting where my fuel hose connects to the fuel tank.I needed the carb anyway but could have been a cheap fix.
