i HAVE A OMC , GM 3.0 1986 . tHE ADVISE I NEED IS WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET WATER CONTAMINATED OIL OUT OF THE ENGINE. I HAD A RISER GASKET FAILER SO I REPLACED IT WITH NO OTHER ISSUES [THANK GOD] BUT NOW I NEED TO GET THE OIL OUT. I CHANGED IT ONCE AND IS STILL MILKY AND A LITTLE OVER FULL , BUT I THINK THAT IS BECAUSE I DID NOT GET ALL OF THE OIL OUT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

tHE ADVISE I NEED IS

Ayuh,... Turn off the Cap-lock....

Run it motor, in the water, under Load...

Motor heat will steam off the water, if ya got it fixed....
If ya got a cracked block, the oil/ water level will rise on the stick...

Thanks bondo and sorry about the caps.i am a little worried about runing any engine with water mixed with oil. I am99 percent sure it was the riser gasket because the inner ring of the gasket which seperates the ezhaust from the water jacket was totly gone. Once i put the new gasket in there was no more water coming out of the plug holes and it started right up and ran good now i just need to clean up the oil.

What i do is drain the old oil and water. All the oil will not drain from the block. Change the filter and fill to full on the stick with fresh oil, run the engine for a half hour. Drain the oil and change the filter fill to the full mark with fresh oil. Run the engine for a half hour. Change the filter and the oil fill to the full mark on the stick and go boating.
Keep a eye on the stick if the oil starts going over the mark then you know you didn't fix the problem.

A little background, my head went 4 years ago. "Went"= wore out. While underway about 3000 rpm i felt a shudder and loss of power, throttled back. I checked the stick, a milkshake. Milkshake shooting out the valve cover hose into my carb.
Back home on the trailer i put air to the t-stat housing after removing all the plugs and turning the engine and seeing water shooting out the #1 sparkplug hole. Air shooting out the #1 hole. I pulled the t-stat housing off the head and sure enough there was a hole worn thru the back wall opposite the neck.
Why did i just post all this, my friends 3.0l 92' version just developed this exact problem and we are looking for a head for him and the engine sits on a table under a tree in his backyard. Mine was a 85' engine.
What i am trying to convey is... say the oil starts overfilling the crankcase pull the t-stat housing off the head and probe the wall with a screwdriver and see if a hole developed. Sooner or latter it will, this is a common problem with the 3.0l engine be it a omc or a merc. or volvo.
Good luck !
