Need new controller and control cables

I bought a used Chysler Force outboard 85HP and I can't find the serial number on it anywhere. There is one sticker but it has been painted over, so I really don't know what year or model it is. There are no other markings anywhere. The Facebook Marketplace person I bought it from said he had purchased new cables and a new control for it to repower his boat, but found a better deal so was selling this one. When hooking it up to my boat the control is not the right one. I rigged it up to get it to the lake last weekend, in hopes that it would work, but I had no forward motion and could only reverse.
The housing mounts to the linkage that moves. The cable mounts on a stationary ball socket and the housing moves with the linkage. This doesn't work, because the controller that we have holds the housing and moves the cable, so they are fighting one another.
What controller will work with the linkage setup on the boat motor?

Just about any Force/ Chrysler shifter up till 93 should work.
Your motor is about a 1987/88. Pic of the lower unit would help ID the motor.
The 8 pin connector was added sometime along the way?? Not standard equipment.
In pic 6 the top cable is the shift cable. Unless somebody has switched the connectors.
The bottom cable has a spring loaded connector that pulls the throttle back .
