Need More Power

I am new to this forum and have learned a lot already from those who have posted... I have a question about my boat and how to get more out of it... I have an 89 Baretta 19' ski boat with a AQ131D Volvo motor...
I have a problem maintaining a constant speed while towing a wakeboarder (200-240lbs) while I have a few people riding in the boat with me (4-5 others)... Is there any way to get more power out of the little 4 banger such as dual carb setup or a 2 barrel carb and intake to fix this problem? I know that repowering with a larger motor will fix the problem but I would rather stay with the simplicity of the AQ131 >> I like the fuel economy and the reliability >> I have never been stranded in this boat and I have already worked most of the bugs out of it...
Thanks
OG

"Oilguy, your engine (single carb) is rated for 120HP, while the AQ145B (dual carb) is rated for 139HP and the AQ151 (dual carb) is rated for 146HP. Although all three engines do apparently have the same block (B230), the AQ151 has a different crankshaft, different pistons and differennt camshaft than your engine; and the AQ145B has the same pistons and crank as yours, but different camshaft. It seems to me that you would have to invest quite a bit of money to obtain 19 to 26 extra HP. I have also read some postings talking about installing a Weber carb kit, but I am unsure of how true the claims in the redlineweber website are:

If top end speed is not crucial, your best bet would probably be using a propeller with less pitch and maybe a bit more diameter."

Thanks for the reply....
So you are saying that I shouldn't install the dual carb setup on my engine? What should my RPM be at WOT?
Also... I know the Penta 275 has an odd spline count but I am not sure what it is off hand... Do you happen to know? I have a very nice SS prop that came with the boat when I got it and would hate to have to give that up... but I will look around on Ebay to see what is available...
Thanks again

ok a 19ft boat with a 120hp motor with 5-6 200lb people (average) trying to get a 200-240lb person out of the water. Seems a bit overloaded. How does it perform if you chuck 3 or 4 of your friends in the lake and try again?

You have to go and point out the obvious.... don't you!!
LOL

It works great then! But you know how people like to pile in... I have a wake board tower on my boat and everyone like to ski and tube behind me.... I want to do whatever I can to help the boat with out sending passengers overboard....

I'm a compassionate guy! hahahaha

Lucky if they buy gas or drinks! Bunch of freeloaders! Hahahaha....
I am trying to convince one to get a party barge so I don't have to come all the way back to the beach to swap passengers and they can all watch and enjoy.... I guess I'll have to buy that too! Oh well...
