"Hi
I need some more help. 1985 OMC 3LT. When I hook the water hose and the muffs on and turn the water on. Should the water go to the engine through the supply hose or dose the engine have to be running so the water pump put it through the hose? There is a small weep hole the water runs out on the right side of the outdrive just about where the raw water pump is.

Not sure I understand. You are

Not sure I understand. You are saying that the water will not go all the way to the engine until I start the engine.

"If the boat is moving, the water is pushed up the outdrive. If the boat is not moving, the pump in the outdrive must circulate the water. So, yes, you need the engine to be turning to circulate water. To ensure that I have water circulating, I often grab the hose that runs from the stern to the thermostat. If water is circulating, the hose is cold and I can actually feel the water moving thru the hose. You'll also see it pouring out the exhaust.

The stream of water at the bottom of the outdrive is just a way for the water to go somewhere when it's not being drawn up to the engine."
