I am in need of instructions f

I am in need of instructions for replacing coupler on Alpha 1 Gen II 5.0 Serial # OF139316 on my 1994 Bayliner 2655. Can anyone give me info? The part does not come with any instructions according to the place we are purchasing it. Do I need anything else to properly replace this part?Any info would be greatly appreciated.

An engine lift and normal hand

An engine lift and normal hand tools will do it. Don't mess with the motor mount height and put it back in the same place. You should check the alighnment(sp) after it's back in but people don't. Yes you must pull the drive.

Boat Doc is dead on

Boat Doc is dead on it. The main reasons for coupler failure is lack of lubrication and failure to check OD/engine alignment when reinstalling the OD. Also, if the engine mount bases are rotted, that will throw the alignment off and quickly damage the aluminum coupler splines. Take a real good look at the bases. That is what destroyed my coupler.

If its never been done or it has been awhile, you might as well put on a bellows kit and water hose, lube the U-joints and take a real good look at the gimbal bearing; consider replacing it also if never been done.
