I'm new to big boats and j

I'm new to big boats and just got a 1972 18' fiberglass trihul johnson the floor is 6' wide and about 2' deep walk/thru it came with a 1973 115hp johnson but i found out the motor is no good i need to know if anyone can tell me if a good 72 100hp would push it ok?

from what i understand as long as you have 80% of the max horse power listed it will do fine...........maybe not as fast as it could be, but should get up on plane.

does it still have the specs plate in the boat?"

if your talking about the compacity it says 1300 for motor & fuel then 1760 for i guess people & gear?

mine says like 600 for people and 1050 total.....and a max hp of 115.

what kind of boat do you have?

its probably more like 1300 for people and 1760 total.

my moms husband found this old evin in one of his whses and the tag said 150E1 19865 can any one give me any info on this

"Check for other numbers on it... ex of what any Evinrude after 1980 has for numbers is E150TRXCSF 19??. It should start with an E for Evinrude or J for Johnson, then the horsepower then more model numbers after that and then possibly the year after it. 150's were started in about 1977 i think and those model #'s were just numbers no letters for those years. Good luck but i couldn't find any motor with that model code on it... Go to Evinrude.com and look up parts list. They have all the years and the model numbers, guess what year till you see one with the numbers you recognize."
