Need info on lower and mid section

"Merc "serials" aren't really serials, they are production numbers and as such have NO information encoded into them that will provide you with any clue as to what the motor is or if it's a part, what motor it belongs to.

That number makes it a 1979 model (when compared against the production list for that model year) but could be from any horsepower they produced that year..."
