I pulled my boat out of the shed after 8 years of storage, went through the fuel system and cleaned it out. Got the old girl up and running but have a problem. It is not firing the 2 cylinders on the right as you look at it from the rear, it ran perfect when parked. I installed new plugs as well, does any one know where to start? It is a 1998 Johnson 130

There are many contributors to this forum who know much more than I and cannot address your specific engine but in order for a cylinder to fire you need spark, fuel and compression. Knowing which of those you are lacking is the start to figuring out what's wrong.

Ok sorry I left out the part that there is no spark on the 2 cylinders . Sorry about that. Was thinking it but not stating it

I have a generic Evinrude shop manual that came with my diagnostic software and I don't know if yours is a 60 or 90 degree motor but the troubleshooting tree for either with no spark on one bank is the same: check shift switch if equipped, perform charge coil test and perform power pack test. I would bet you can look on this forum or google how to do those tests It's not feasible for me to try and copy and send them to you and I can't guarantee I would send the right thing anyway. If you are going to buy a manual I would suggest the factory manual.

Do you have a volt-ohm meter and know how to use it? If yes find the CDI troubleshooting guide on this site. If no,??

Thanks for all your help. tested the CDI as recommended and found it bad. Ordered a cdi and will let you know how that turns out when I get it. One more Question, should I change the water pump impeller because of its age. Thank you again for helping a amateur.

Im in a saltwater environment,i change impellar once a year and entire pump everyother year.

......should I change the water pump impeller because of its age.
Absolutely. Setting for 8 years that rubber has developed a 'memory' and also had a chance to become pretty brittle. For the minimal cost and time of a water pump install I'd do it for sure.
