"Well I found out man made dig

"Well I found out man made digital cameras for a reason. I have a 92 manta ray with a 5.0 ford cobra omc sterndrive. I wanted to replace the remote and throttle cable and removed both ( bad idea ) from the shifter. The cables are teleflex. Now I cant remember if the remote cable goes on the top or bottom and if the tab goes in the foward or back slots? I have a selco manual, but I am one that does better with pics. I put it were I think it goes, but now it seems the prop spins in reverse when the engine is started in nuetral, even when it is put in foward. Any help would be greatly appreciated"

"Hi Bob,
I'd like to help

"Hi Bob,
I'd like to help you out here but not sure I can without knowing what type of remote control you have. If I understand correctly you disconnected the throttle and shift cables from the remote control unit and dont remember how to re-connect them

Maybe if you could provide pictures of your remote (front and back) and confirm what exactly the problem is someone here could probably help."

"Hi Chuck,
I will get a pic

"Hi Chuck,
I will get a pic up tomorrow, Yes I did disconnect both, I know ther throttle goes on bottom and the remote on top just not which hole. The holes are half moon shaped, the book says to use the foward mounting hole for OMC cables and the rear for SAE cables. I am using teleflex cables, what would they be considered?

Thanks in advance for any help"

"The book" you are ref

"The book" you are referring to is the Seloc? Not sure why there would be different connection points for non OEM cables (may need a little more experience here) but it's a pretty safe bet your new cables are not original OMC. Is the throttle cable working correctly? I'm leaning towards the possibility that it's a shift cable adjustment issue.

"Here is a pic of where the cables go on the control box, the one that is on already is the throttle.

"Looks like a concealed sidemo

"Looks like a concealed sidemount OMC controle. As for the cables:
If they have a threaded end where You put on an 'adapter', they are SAE cables.
If the end is 'flattened' and has a hole, it is an OMC type cable even if made by Teleflex."

"they are flattened with a hol

"they are flattened with a hole in it, it is also a side mount omc control. so they go in the foward holes, but now does it matter which hole the half moons go in? Thanks for the help Morten"

"I'm not quite sure what Y

"I'm not quite sure what You mean by 'half moon'.
As for forward or rear slots for the anchor blocks:
Pull out the cable, measure from hole to sleeve. Push it all the way in and measure again, divide and find the middle point, mark the cable. Shift into neutral, attach the cable and the marking will give which slot. (However I think to remember You are supposed to use forward).
The shift cable should be pulling from neutral to forward. Install the handle, shift into forward and notice movement of shift arm (#7). That will give You upper or lower.
