I've got a 1971 Johnson 50

I've got a 1971 Johnson 50hp. The problem i'm having is that it will crank and run fine on muffs but in the lake it won't even crank. I can lift the motor up then crank it lower the motor and it will run at wot but as soon as i try to slow down it dies.

Check the spark, compression and if they are both good start with cleaning and kiting the carbs,resychcronise and run the engine..run some omc tuner through the system or similar."

i cleaned the carbs. not sure

i cleaned the carbs. not sure how to sync them i ordered a manual it hasn't arrived yet. anyone got any ideas
