"i have a 19' 1979 bayliner with a AQ140a and a 270 outdrive. the boat runs great but it has a hard time getting up on plane. if there is 4 people on the boat it barley gets on plane. i think i have the wrong prop on it. i have a 14x19 prop on it now.2 people on it at WOT max rpm is about 4200, this does not seem right to me. it seems that my motor should be about 5000 RPM at WOT. please give me any input. thanks."

"You are definitely overpropped. I run a 15 X 17 on mine and it works great. I would try a smaller prop. Your WOT should be around 5 k rpm, you can check your manual for the exact numbers.

We need some more info, what is the history of this boat? Is it a new to you that is not performing or is this something that started acting up?

i bought the boat last year an

i bought the boat last year and worked all the bugs out. over the winter i put pertronics on it and rewired the whole boat. this is really the first season i have really drove it. i just think that it is over proped.
