"Jerry, quite possibly dirty/g

"Jerry, quite possibly dirty/gummed low speed carb jet. Quite common on a motor that has sat for a while.

This requires disassmebly, cleaning and possible rebuild.

Of course, before you invest the time in that (plus the cost of a kit/manual) you should check the compression, spark and give the motor a good look over - check for worn, cracked, frayed, rotted hoses, lines etc. Also, plan on changing the lower gear oil, throwing in a new pair of spark plugs and changing the impeller."

Jerry Graham is right.The most

Jerry Graham is right. The most likely cause on an old motor is a dirty pilot (idle) circuit in the carb.Go to an auto parts store and you can buy a can of carb cleaner the aerosoltype is useless .Get the type in a Gallon bucket wich the carb soaks in.The orifices are very small if you don't have compressed air to check them you can use steel guitar strings or welding torch tip cleanersof the right size to GENTLY clear out the pilot jet. After cleaning carb you may need to lower idle.Over the years people tend to compensate for a dirty idle circuit by increasing idle.Take your time some parts are very fragile Good Luck
