Need help with shift linkage on 1989 48 Evinrude

" I am tring to pull the lower unit on my 89 48HP
Evinrude, to change the waterpump. Does any one know how to release the shift lever? "
 
There is a screw in the shift

There is a screw in the shift rod. Remove it from the port side of the motor and below the carburetors.
