need help with poppet valve please.

I have a 1979 mercury v150, I just ordered a poppet valve kit for it and the rubber diaghram is too thick to fit in my housing, also it came with a metal disk that goes behind it but mine didn't have one and it wouldn't fit correctly when trying to put it on, all gaskets worked fine. I also have a hole in the poppet cover that had a screw in it but not sure if that is suppose to be like that or if the previous owner did it to keep the valve closed. I'm lost and not sure if there is a different kit to buy or if I should buy a whole other assembly and even then I'm not sure which one to get or where to get it, this thing is hard to find and it really does not help that I can't find a serial number on my motor. It's not on the block behind the flywheel, the part number is 65663 but I obviously got the wrong kit ordering it that way, any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Yeah, that one does not look like mine, I really think mine is not suppose to use the metal disk, with the disk in the diaghram does not seat and its too thick to put the cover on, I wish I could find one that is a little newer, little less rare and will fit and work properly on my motor.

I'm having a hard time posting a pic.

The hole in the cover is the vent.----This allows the diaphragm to move.-------People see water leaking out of that hole.----They start jumping up and down and plug the leak.-----A big mistake.----They just do not know how these thing work !!

That's what I thought it was, its actually in a different location on the cover than most are but there is not another vent hole anywhere, does anyone know where to locate the correct parts to rebuild it?
