2001 Mercury 115 hp, I need to limit my in tilt, was told just put a pin in one of the holes, is this ok? also can't locate this part, can I just use a bolt?
Thanks

I have always called them "thrust pins" or "thrust rods".

There is generic ones available from the generic marine dealers (boats.net etc - maybe this site as well - here is an example http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/merc/M-16198004.html).

Just would have to determine the hole size and "how long" to span the two holes.

If you choose to use bolts (I would go for the rod/pin - just would trust it more), do select something that will handle the weight/shear potential and be conscious of dis-similar metals. Even the (rods) that come with (so equipped) models will "weld themselves" in place if they are not routinely serviced and can be a real booger to remove at a later point.

Thanks Galamb, is this an acceptable method for limiting my trim in? I get way too much spray from boat and engine when I trim in too far.
