Need Help identifying part in Transom

Hello,
When I removed the stern-drive, I discovered something that looks like a gasket behind the upper shift shaft, but I can not identify the part in any manual..
Can anyone help me out ? attaching pictures of the part,,

It's part of your water shutter assembly, that "should" be located at the top of the exhaust pipe(except that they fail all the time, and end up trapped behind the shift shaft). Remove it, and then remove the rubber exhaust connectors and elbow and look for the other half.

Ayuh,..... Agreed,.... Those are the remnants of the exhaust shutters,....

Musta been run without water flow at some point, which burns 'em up,....

Here you can see the shutter/ flapper and where its located in the top of the exhaust in case it helps
