It is obvious that it is a 50 Horse Evinrude. But what year?

I have it as part of model num

I have it as part of model number lists that I acquired. I do believe that you can find it on the net if you do a seach for OMC or Johnson/Evinrude serial numbers. I'm sure it's posted in a number of places...

"John, OMC has been around for a long time and have changed their name on 3 occasions.

Originally OMC stood for Outboard Motors Corporation, then it changed to OMMC Outboard Marine and Manufacturing Corporation.

They later dropped the "manufacturing" and now it's just Outboard Marine Corporation.

The company was again bought out recently by Bombardier Recreation Products - so now sometimes you will see BRP/OMC..."
