Need help fast starting procedure for a late 70s I thinkMercury65

" I am going to take out a Merc 65 .it is a black motor that says direct 3 charge ,65 horse.On the control it has a lever on the right ,a shifter on the left and a rubber choke button on top of the control.I know to pump the bulb,I dont know how the choke works. Do you just hold it in and crank the motor with the warm up lever up to give it throttle?Thanks Mike "

You pretty much got it! The black lever advances the timing. The choke button needs to be held in while cranking until the engine starts. You should be able to hear the choke kick on. If not you'll need to lift the choke lever on top of the engine. You shouldn't need to give it any throttle, in fact if memory serves me you can't while the black lever is in the up position.
