Hi everyone, I am new here, and new to owning a motorboat. I have the awkward challenge of owning this boat in Argentina, where expertise and parts are thin on the ground, and I am a first-time owner as well, so really feeling my way. All help and tips very gratefully accepted.
From one day to the next my motorboat, powered by an Evinrude G2 150 E-Tec built in 2017 (C150PLAAE - (G2 66° V6, 2.7 L) if we are being exact), no longer works. The engine does not turn over (battery problem ruled out), and the screens show 3 error messages which suggest the motor cannot talk to the helm any longer (see PDF attached).
My local mechanic at first thought the problem was the motor's onboard computer and suggested replacing it. Then he suggested replacing the entire Rigging Kit (part 0769964) when he was able to get the old computer to briefly talk back to the helm (I was not present, so I cannot described more fully). Now he has suggested just changing out the throttle (Part 768750 - KIT_RIGG SIDE MT-S). None of these parts are cheap and I do not have complete confidence any will solve the problem -- the mechanic has never encountered this problem before, there is a bit of a language barrier between him and me, and I'm a newbie.
I have an upcoming ability to buy parts when I am back in the US. Does anyone have experience with this problem that could guide me?
Many, many thanks to all!
