Hello all,

I just bought a boat that was suppose to be a simple project ( yeah when are they ever lol) anyways it has a list of things going on. I've had to replace sections of wire that got hit and melted the insulation. I've got to the point as to where it'll crank over. I don't have any wiring diagrams at all.

I'm wondering if someone here would have that. I don't know if it's a black max or not I do see on the cover the guy with the beard don't even know what the black max is.

Do the coils receive power from the wiring harness that goes up too the ignition as of right now I have zero spark. I don't know if the engine turns over it should spark or not generally my knowledge is coils need to receive power. Also I do not have wires hooked up other than what cranks it and on the tilt plus forward and reverse.

I don't want to just go off and buy parts not knowing if this stuff is bad or not.

Thanks in advance. Daniel

The black max name is not real important. When you order parts you need the serial #. I am pretty sure your black max was a 2.0 block but I could be wrong.

So do the coils have a lead going up to the ignition or. I know the best way to find out is buying a manual but thought I'd ask here and see if anyone has any pointers

Ok so far I've gotten the right side of the coils to fire. I only have one wire lead going to the ignition for the coils. I assume there's only one lead in the wire loom. Kinda odd but I'll look more into it tomorrow I hope. Well it's getting closer. I hope I don't need to replace a switch box but if so hey it's 50 bucks not to bad.
