Hello all, been doing a lot of reading and tried a bunch of things with no luck on coming off idle problem with my carb’ed 250.
Things I’ve tried;
-all fuel bowls rebuilt and carb plate idle orifices cleaned
-went from VRO to dual fuel pumps
-tried setting idle air settings from 4 turns to 10 turns on all bowls- runs best at 8 will not idle at 4
-set idle timing till advanced all the way
-sprayed starter fluid to find any leaks - none found
-new plugs and wires
-run it with a electric fuel pump - same as video
-de-carbing
-running on separate tank to eliminate boats tank
-compression left bank top to bottom, 110,110,100 right bank top to bottom 110,110,100
-disconnected rectifier, Brown temp wire going to power pack, ohmed out trigger,stater and power pack ..... all within specs
runs at 14 volts output on dash gauge
Engine will not come off idle. I can make it run off idle on the water by turning choke on and giving one pump on the primer bulb then start engine, put into gear and give it some throttle till it starts to bog .... then flip the lever on choke back to pointing down and when it leans up a bit I can run at full throttle. Then when I come back to neutral it’ll idle down till it dies. I can idle back to dock if I crack the choke to a quarter turn up or on which ever you would call it. It fires up every time you turn the key but will not come off idle without dying.
Would anyone recommend changing idle orifice from #30 and going to #32’s? When I try to run the throttle by hand it won’t rev up enough to pull fuel from the high speed jets. when I manually throttle engine before it comes out of quick start it will throttle up and run smooth sometimes.
