"In need of help from an Expert;

Just bought a boat with a 1978 Evinrude 150 hp Outboard engine. When I bought it, I had the owner run it and it ran. 4 day's later I took it out on the lake for fathers day and guess what?? It did not run. Cranked but wouldn't run.
I took it home, changed the spark plugs. Changed the fuel line, fuel filter & recharged the battery. The guy at Kragen told me to try some Starter Fluid so, I bought one. When I spray the starter fluid and turn it on...it runs great!!!! stays running and will restart fine unless it sits for an hour up (then I have to spray starter fluid all over again to get it started). I've heard it could be the Carbs but, I don't know how to rebuild it??

Any suggestions??

It may be your starting proced

It may be your starting procedure.Make sure the choke works and is on while turning the motor over.And remember starter fluid does not lubricate the motor.Find what you are doing wrong or what is wrong with the motor.

"Are you pushing the key in to activate the choke while you're cranking the engine? If not, do so.

If you're going to spray anything into those carburetors, use only premixed fuel in a spray container."
