I have a 16 ft Polarcraft jon boat with a 20hp Mercury, it came with a tilt bed trailer, my question is, under what conditions would the tilt feature be needed? Also I need a reverse lock for a 1978 20hp Mercury outboard. Any help offered would be appreciated.

I have found the tilt feature convenient for retrieving the boat. If yours is light enough, it may not provide any benefit.

As far as the reverse lock, you'll need the serial number off the engine. Add that to your next-to-last sentence in post #1 and post it on the mercury outboard page and you'll get a much faster answer. used ones may be available from the recyclers; new ones from the merc dealers.

I appreciate your help, as far as the tilt trailer I have never used that feature as it appears to be stuck shut, I have released the tilt lock and it will do nothing, so apparently I don't need the tilt. I will do as you said about the reverse lock.

I truely could not see any advantage in using the tilt feature, however it's good to know it's there should I need it.
