"pull the air box and get all

"pull the air box and get all wtr out......what yr & HP eng?.....the tube u r referring to,is a fuel condensation, recirculation tube,..it takes fuel mist, and sucks it into lower eng crank bearing..
All I do is use alot of WD-40 on my salt water outboard."

"In addition to JWB's usual on target advice, I'll add my method to remove salt.

I spray the powerhead down also with WD-40, then using a proper size paint brush, I brush it down as needed to break away that salt.

I then use a air compressor to blow away all that I have broken loose..... leaves a nice clean shinny looking powerhead.

Use rags or whatever to plug up any access holes leading to carburetors etc before starting this cleaning project.

Don't have a air compressor? Get one. There's many small and rather cheap compressors on the market now that would do the above job easily.

I have a 4 Hp engine which aft

I have a 4 Hp engine which after the winter lay off I'm finding impossible to start. The problem is that when I try to pull the starter cord it is totally jammed. I seem to remember that this happened before and I was able to release whatever was causing it to jam by hitting it somewhere. I'm not confident enough to try it without some advice so I'd really apprecaite your help if you could. Thanks a lot. B2k

"Brendan.... Sounds like you have either water in the lower unit or moisture (condensation) in the powerhead. Dropping the lower unit would tell you which component is locking up.

If the powerhead, spray something proper in the plug hole, the try rocking the flywheel back and forth.
