I have a Johnson 50 around a 90's model and I was doing a spring tune-up and found the following. Everything was good untill I went to drain the lower unit oil and water came out. I know that I need to reseal the bearing carrier but how do I get it out. I can take all of the bolts out but I need a puller to get it out. I have a slide (dent) puller that I thought I could make a hook and try that. I also read somewhere that someone used prybars to get it out...not real sure about that one.

I would greatly appreciate any comments.

"Joe..... The slide hammer procedure would be the best route to take, but I'd suggest that before removing the carrier (unless you're sure thats where the leak is), is to drain the unit empty, then with one drain/oil level screw installed, apply 7 to 12 pounds of air pressure to the other hole. You should be able to hear and/or see where the leak is.

" Joe,
Spray soap water on suspected areas while you use the compressed air. Makes it easy to see the leak.
