"I recently set my low hours AQ 140 back into the boat after new stringers, transom and some other major work. It will not line up on the alignment marks on the bellhousing but it looks lined up every other way. The exhaust pipe lines up pretty close to the exhaust manifold, the coolant reservoir sits very close to horizonal and looking at the junction where the big "O" rings sit (transom shield to bellhousing connection) it's squared up vertically and horizonally. But the marks don't align! The only thing I can figure is that the previous owner built up the crossmember where the motor mounts sit. Any reason why it won't work if the motor is sitting in properly EXCEPT for the alignment of the marks? The angled end of the bellhousing that protrudes out the back with the mainshaft sitting in the center--it's also sitting at a less than vertical angle.
I'm sending some photos. Take a look and tell me if it's okay. We tried lifting the motor and shimming it everywhich way but to get the alignment marks close the whole motor sits at a very odd angle.
