I am buying a pontoon that has

I am buying a pontoon that has a 2003 115hp FICHT motor that only has about 75 hrs on it. I am not a seasoned motor guru so I need some advice on this motor and what to look for when inspecting it. I am driving to TX to pick it up IF it passes my approval. I do know that the larger and older FICHT's had issues through OMC but seem to be cleared up by '03. Any knowledgable advice will be appreciated!

Make a call to your local OMC

Make a call to your local OMC dealer and see if they are still working on these engines. Up here they don't want to touch them. No warrenty on repairs when you do find someone to pull a wrench on one.
 
The 2003 Fichts were a BRP pro

The 2003 Fichts were a BRP product. That's 3 years after the OMC bankruptcy.

No worries on model year 2002 and later. BRP fixed all the issues before production began.
The Ficht name was replaced with "direct injection" around 2005 or so for the engines not yet converted to E-Tec.
