"Hello,

I have a Catalina

"Hello,

I have a Catalina 22' swing keel sailboat which I intend to use as a motorboat, no mast or rig. Will sell the two stroke on the boat and replace it with the 9.9 four stroke, EXTRA Long Shaft, 25", with a tiller and electric start.

I want to eventually have a remote control either in the cockpit area or actually a Yam tiller handle with shift and throttle mounted ON the sailboat tiller. (which I had on a 31' trimaran, not installed by me, but worked fine).

What is the best way to have the controls nearby, so I don't have to be leaning over the back of the transom for throttle/shift controls, pls?

Another alternative is someone selling a 8 hp four stroke Yam High thrust Long shaft, 20" with a remote box, 16' cables and tilt. The cables would be way too long, are shorter cables (6-8'?) avail?

The 8 is the length of my current two stroke (23") so would probably work, but I don't know if the cables could be changed for much shorter ones?
I would sell the 9.9 and keep the 8, don't want a bunch of engines, but both in excellent like new shape.

Any thoughts appreciated.
Area of use, btw, will be San Francisco Bay which is often very choppy
Thanks,
Stuart"

"If you buy any of the newer 8

"If you buy any of the newer 8 and 9 hp high thrust 4 strokes they have remote and power tilt options available. They use a 703 remote which allows you to mount the throttle, shift and tilt anywhere on the boat you want. It comes with about 20 to 25 feet of main harness and throttle/shift cables can be bought in many lengths (8 footers too) Go for a longer shaft. I would definetly go for a high thrust for your application! These engines also have very good battery charging capabilities."
