Need 65 Merc 1000 wiring harness

I am in need of a 1965 Merc 1000 outboards wiring plug its an elbow plug that plugs into the side of the motor 6 pin I think mine needs all new wiring. I thought I could just run all the new wire but cant do it without destroying the plug. Thanks

The plug in feature on the side of the motor is a " convenience item "------------------------Nothing to stop you from removing that and making direct connections to the motor or a terminal board.-------------Gets rid of poor connections all together,

Correct. I run a standard trailer harness on mine, with the solenoid located on the boat (instead of on the motor). Simple, and it allows me to run a variety of motors.

Sounds easy enough thought of doing that just would be much simpler if I had original plug. I may have to do it the hard way. lol
