So my 5.0 MPI Mercruiser is out of commission. Systems Horn goes 2 times at on position and again 2 times each minute. I'm in a remote locale but was able to get a diagnostic run. The dealer here does not even have a proper Merc mechanic! There were a few faults...2, 9, 16, 19, 119, 130, 152. Mostly sensor faults and relay faults. Before it died, the alarm went off a couple times and then it stalled. It restarted but I was about 20 miles out and it was getting dark so came back to the marina under my own power, where is stalled and now will not start. This is what I can figure out...Basically, there is spark, distributor and plugs. Engine cranks strong but only fires maybe once...or not at all and then just cranks and cranks. Nothing.
The mechanic thinks its lack of fuel pressure (both pumps primary and secondary are functioning). The "mechanic" who ran diagnostics thinks it might be lack or fuel pressure because when he releases the pressure valve fuel only shots up 10-12 inches.
I've cleaned the main ground and distributor. Sorry for this long post.
