on my old mariner motor(40 hp 1989 japanese) I bought a gear oil pump that had a fitting for yamaha outboards in it--I figure that the drain in this motor was the same as a yamaha but I was sadly mistaken--the oil level hole at top accepted this fitting(8mm I believe) perfectly but the bottom drain/fill hole was much smaller--like 4mm or something---can somebody fill me in(no pun intended)
 
OK--thanks--wasn't sure if one was available --any I've seen offered on the web(I'm a ways from a good shop) are 8mm I thought people just used the soft tube to fill these
 
well just got back from the local "experts"(mercury dealer) and they assured me that I have rocks in my head and that the yamaha 8mm adapter will screw right in--it certainly will not (which I told them) ---it has to they say--it doesn't I say and on and on it went--so I'm back to square one---anybody know where I could buy one of these adapters and what I would ask for
