My J25VL3SIE Oil system.

Thanks to all for helping me with my issues, I'm back on my feet and working on getting motor running. I replace the key switch and did find a primer selonoid that's now working. Did finally after many attempts get motor started in barrel of water at house. Thought I had problem fixed, But I took out for ride and only ran for 5 minutes, when engine just shut off, like it was out of gas, restarted, ran briefly, ran battery down trying to start. Took home charged battery and removed the hose from oil housing ran it directly to fuel filter, put oil in 6 gal gas tank. Primed while starting, engine started after few try's. Did this over 2 day's and engine started on first attempt, it's been a while since thats happened. I'm hopeing that was the issue with engine shutdown's ! Do you think that was the problem all along? Gonna take out on water tommorrow and find out, If not It's back to drawing board. But i'm excited about this time as the motor sounds and starts up like it did 8 years ago when I never had issues. I appeciate all feedback and I should of removed the oil system first and I realize that now. Rick

Every dealer has mentioned ---------Get rid of the " automatic oiling system on that motor "--------------Yet when I tell folks to do that they say " why ??-- it is working fine "---------------Seen enough of these beautiful motors ruined by it, I can only laugh / chuckle and walk away.

Your so right.... it's been an absolute great motor......I'll admit and unfortinately I fell into the "why, but I never had a problem mind set".
When I removed the tank it smelled like there was gas in the oil tank ? Well anyway lesson learned. Anxoius to get on water tommorrow to finally try. What's my chances that it was a major part of my issues? Will keep in touch afterwards.

These motors have a miniature version ( a bit shorter ) crankshaft of the 3 cylinder 70 HP motor.--------Same main bearing as the 70 HP.------Most outboards rarely get a chance to wear out----They are ruined by owners who do not know fine machinery , and make mistakes.

With that crankshaft similar to a 70 hp and main bearing.... it should should last many more trips....just hopeing I got to it in time and did not ruin it...I sure as heck won't or did not give up on my girl!!!
